Good morning my name is Audrey Curry and I have been a nurse for 45 years and I am supposed to do a video this morning to explain to you my why not why I became a nurse but why as a nurse now I teach and to explain that to you is very simple I have two students here is going to help me with that explanation my why would be D'Asia Combs who has learned how to proficiently take a patient's vital signs my why would be Crishante Thornburg who has learned how to make a patients bed with the patient in the bed that's only two of the whys there's many many more tasks and skills these students have proficiently learned and because of my years of Nursing and my dedication to them as an instructor they have done very well and I am very proud of them and that is my why not only am I teaching a class I am teaching their future I want all of my students to be productive citizens I want to challenge the minds of my students so that they can reach their fullest potential potential I want them to make certain that they are able to accomplish everything that they set out to do and this is why I always strive hard to make certain that my students are doing everything that is possible it is important for me and the reward that I receive from my students is the success that is my reward for teaching education is the key to success and this is what I stress for all of my students so that they can do whatever is their desire they can reach beyond their circumstance and be great why do I teach my father went to college to become a teacher he went to Paul Quinn College in Waco Texas but I was born and he had put off his dream of becoming a teacher he never got a chance to be a teacher my grandfather never even had a chance to go to school at all he could neither read nor write my great-grandfather lost his father when he was 3 years old because his father was killed by a group of people simply because he associated himself with a group of black men in their Community who wanted to build a School house so you see considering the long history of the short answer to why I teach I teach because I must You asked me the question why do I teach and my question to you is why wouln't I teach teaching is the only profession that you can laugh in everyday you may cry everyday but through it all it's all about the children I teach because I love children children make my day children sometimes break my day I love teaching because the children are so genuine there's no way that you can fool them they know if you're for real you get the greatest joy out of seeing that light bulb come on when you worked so hard at teaching that lesson and you think oh my gosh I've run out of tricks and finally you see this smile spread on their face when they realize that they've gotten it I love teaching because basically I've done it for so many years and I have had the opportunity to have students come back to me and say Mrs. Lanius do you remember when and sometimes it may be about a story we've done it may be about a lesson we've done and maybe even about I remember how you smell you've got to love what you're doing and that's why I'm a teacher Why do I teach I teach because I believe that teachers not only have the ability to change the world but to improve it I know that through teaching I can make a difference Teaching puts a smile on my face It is joy it is truly happiness I love to make my students feel and know that they are appreciated and cared for all while helping them develop into future innovators and creators for our great nation my students have and always will be the most important reason why teaching is such a remarkable experience teaching is not just a job It is an important contribution where I can help make my society our society better That IS why I teach Hi my name is Celeste Kinds I'm a teacher here at Robert Lewis Magnet School I became a teacher to inspire to motivate and to give the students the best of what I have so they can become productive citizens in the world I love the teaching when I can get that ooooh now I understand the aha moment those are my motivations for teaching and I wouldn't trade it for the world I teach because it's what I was meant to do teaching has been a part of my life since I as far back as I can remember I had a Montessori School experience in kindergarten myself and I wanted to share that with others from the time I was in sixth grade I knew I wanted to be a teacher and here I am finally living my dream sharing (crying) with the experience of my students I'm Fred McCray and I'm a technology teacher here at Morgantown Middle School I teach because after teaching students the basic skills and watching them surpass my expectations the feeling is Indescribable and that's why it's imperative that we as Educators and not only Educators but everyone in the world make sure that we keep our children and students at the forefront of everything that we do because as we know the children are our future Hello I'm Erica Brown-Tanner I teach English here at Natchez Early College @ Co-Lin I teach English II and I teach Composition I I believe that one of the reasons why I teach is because I come from a family of educators my mother is a teacher of 40 years my grandmother and my other grandmother was a teacher and a principal and it's something that knew I wanted to do so I like to see my students reach their full potential I like to push my students out of their comfort zones and help them understand that sometimes learning is not always something that, happens very easily it can be very hard and difficult and I love seeing my students once I pushed never they push themselves or push each other I love seeing my to grow and reach that potential and realize they're a lot more resilient and stronger than they ever thought possible
