Inclement Weather Notice

School Closing…

The administration of the Natchez-Adams School District wishes to remind parents of procedures it follows in the event schools are forced to delay starting times, dismiss early, or cancel classes. When emergency situations occur, including weather conditions or school building site limitations (i.e. water, heat, electrical), the decision to close schools, start late, or dismiss early will be made by the Superintendent or his designee.

School closings, delayed starts or early dismissals due to severe weather or other emergency reasons will be posted on the home page of the District’s web site. The telephone messaging system, will call all families that have an updated telephone number in our system as soon as a decision is made to announce a closing or late start. Due to the speed of updating, the official district's Facebook account, Natchez-Adams School District, is generally the first and fastest mode of communication. Other social media channels and news media will be updated as quickly as possible. Please keep telephone and email information updated at your student’s school.

If Schools are Closed…

Parents and students should have a well-communicated plan in place in the event of these emergency situations. Children need to know where to go or what to do if a parent will not be home.

The decision on cancellation or postponement of extracurricular practices, events, and/or games will be made by the Athletic Director with the approval of the Superintendent.

Even if school is in session, parents are asked to assess their particular situation and determine whether or not it is safe for their child(ren) to attend school on a particular day. Children absent in inclement weather when school is held will be marked absent and treated the same as in any other absence.
