Hello, Bulldog Nation I am Tony Fields public engagement coordinator for the Natchez-Adams school district I'm coming before you to answer the question that I'm sure is on everyone's mind how are we going to conduct school for the 2020-21 school year as we navigate through the uncertainty of COVID-19 the Mississippi Department of Education has given District options to choose as guidance to reopen our schools. The Natchez-Adams School District Board of Trustees and administration collaborated with the medical community, community stakeholders, parents, and staff members to come up with a plan to reopen that will ensure quality instruction and the safety of all staff and students the school year will start on August 10th as planned we will use a hybrid schedule with a combination of virtual and face-to-face learning methods to meet the instructional needs of our students our face-to-face attendance structure will be a change for all of us will be placed into cohorts with in their homeroom section for example for K through 12 students if you are placed in cohort a you will attend school for face-to-face instruction on Mondays and Wednesdays if you are in cohort B you will attend school for face-to-face instruction on Tuesdays and Thursdays Friday's will be used to provide interventions for select students identified by teachers these measures will limit the number of students in the classroom at one time to approximately 13 students per section 11th and 12th grade students who have passed or who are exempt from all subject area tests and they need to complete classes to obtain the required units of instruction will participate in Virtual learning classes only these measures will decrease the number of students at Natchez High School by approximately 155 students. face-to-face instructional time for all Elementary schools will start at 7:45 and end at 2:45 face-to-face instructional time for both middle schools with start at 8:15 and then at 3:15. Face-to-face instruction High School Freshman Academy Ombudsman, Natchez High, and Natchez Early College will start at 8:30 and end at 3:30. Upcoming videos and announcements will address the procedures for registration devices for all students and safety measures for all students and staff.
