Meet the Administration

Greetings West Family,

 

I am La’Toya Scott-Hammett, Ph.D. a native of Natchez, MS. Serving in the capacity of principal has been a life-long dream, coming from a long line of educators. Not only because I am from Natchez, but I desire to serve the students in my community and assist in producing life -long  learners, successful  and productive citizens.

 

I am a 1997 Honor Graduate of Cathedral High School, earned a B.S. in Biology from Tougaloo College in 2001, M.S. from Alcorn State University in Elementary Education with a minor in Reading in 2002, M.A.T. in 2003 from Alcorn State University, a Ph.D. from Jackson State University in Educational Leadership and Supervision in 2007 and a B.S. in Nursing from Alcorn State University in 2015.

 

I have one son, Desmond and I am a member of  Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church and also attend Living Word Worship Center.

 

I have been in Natchez-Adams School District since 2015 working in the capacity as Assistant Principal at Frazier Elementary, Robert Lewis Magnet School, and Morgantown Middle School. 

 

For 17 years I’ve dedicated myself to education and delved in the trenches, with roles such as  teacher/facilitator and program director in Wilkinson County School District, Concordia Parish Schools, Catholic Diocese of Jackson, Memphis City Schools, and Shelby County Schools. 

 

I’m excited to be here at West Elementary, where we will soar to higher heights and work together as a team to be a successful school and where we are definitely,” Treasures Under the Sea”
